Kindergarten no. 121 „Green Kindergarten” is an educational institution, which stimulates harmonious development of children aged 3-6 by providing them with safe environment and direct contact with nature. The nursery, which is located near the largest Wroclaw Park, offers places for around 140 children, who are divided into 6 groups depending on their age.

Green Kindergarten belongs to the network of “Health Promoting Kindergartens” and “Lower Silesian Schools Promoting Ecological Development”. The nursery implements programs such as: “Small and Wonderful”, “Film education for the youngest”, “Birds counting”, “The Academy of Healthy Preschooler”. We organize two contests in a frame of a campaign “Our clean Wroclaw” – “Illuminated Wroclaw” and “Flower bombarding”. We also host “Wroclaw Nursery Rhymes” contest. We are very proud that our projects such as „The Carnival of Bygone Games and Plays” and the Festival “Cudawianki” found a lot of recipients and positively animate the residents of the city.

The Kindergarten has an ecological profile which is integrally connected with health promotion. “Green Kindergarten” for many years has been receiving international ecological certificate “Green Flag” given to various institutions worldwide. In 2016 we received the title of “Ecological Education Leader”. Our pro-ecological activities engage children in taking care of e.g. vertical garden from plastic bottles, rain boots flower bed, little wall made of bottle tops. Each of six groups has its own veggie garden. The children take care of the plants (watering, weeding, planting) and learn about the values of naturally grown products and the role of nature. We also stimulate in our children love to outdoor games in park setting through the project „Let’s take children outside” – every week the children go for a longer time to Park Szczytnicki (Wroclaw’s largest park).

The volunteer will be able to perform activities for children throughout the whole day, beside of time provided for the implementation of educational activities (determined by Preschool Education Program by Polish Ministry of National Education) that teachers are obligated to follow, mostly between the hours of 9 – 11 am. During this time volunteer’s support will be necessary.

The European Intercultural Forum e. V. sent one volunteer to this placement.
