Volunteering at the Zemgale NGO Centre in Latvia

Zemgale NGO Centre is NGO resource centre for more than 600 NGOs in Zemgale region with 2 regional offices. Main tasks are to support regional organisations by providing consultations, information, organising educational events, creating strategic documents, promoting co-operation between NGOs, state institutions and social business structures, also, developing voluntary activities and promoting non-formal education in local society, especially targeting youth NGOs and youth. Main target groups of organisation are NGOs & young people.Since 2002, when first European Voluntary Service project was carried out, Zemgale NGO Centre has expanded cooperation networks and has been sending organisation for more than 60 and host organisation for more than 70 EVS volunteers.
Main topics: Youth Work and Youth Participation
Daily work: at the Youth centers of Zemgale region, assisting youth center personnel and organising your own individual activities

Variety of tasks:
– In the office (newsletters for young people using EURODESK info network;
– Helping staff of organisation with organising regional seminars / events);
– In youth centres and outdoors (there are more than 6 different youth centres who are organising free time activities for young people where volunteers will assist in organising interesting and educational free time events, sport activities etc).

The European Intercultural Forum e. V. is sending 2 volunteers to this placement.
